Now that May is officially over and we’re well into June, we’d like to follow-up with you on a few things we’ve learned during this unorthodox tax season.
CRA March Instalment
It has come to our attention that CRA has swept the March instalment account for a number of our clients and refunded it to them following the filing of their personal taxes. If you made a March tax instalment, let us know and we’ll verify if it’s still applied to your account. If it’s not, we’ll let you know to go ahead and make the payment again.
In addition to accepting payment through online banking, CRA is now set up to accept payments directly on their website. We’ve created a few guides for your reference. Please click on the link below that applies to you!

CRA Payment Deadline
As a reminder, no taxes owing are due until August 31, 2020. Refunds are being processed within the normal timeframe (approximately three weeks after filing).
CH Next Priorities
We are excited to announce some new initiatives at CH. We are always listening and looking to improve our service delivery model, and in the spirit of open communication we have two new ways we’ll be connecting with you starting on June 22nd.
The first is a weekly communication from our team: CH Portfolio Minute. This will be a memo delivered by email every Monday that highlights investment specific information. Our goal is to give you more insight into how your portfolio is being managed. The first few will come directly from me, and over time you’ll hear different perspectives from our whole team. You can expect the first memo to be delivered on June 22nd – spoiler alert, we’re discussing the concept of buying growth for free. You won’t want to miss it!
The second is the most interactive way, and completely new for our team. CH Live will start on July 6th and continue on the first Monday of every month for the remainder of the year. I will be hosting a video call at 4pm MT that will last about 60 minutes, consisting almost entirely of Q & A. We’ll send out a reminder the week before to submit any questions you might have, and I’ll also answer some live ones as well. The format is to be determined, but by the end of next week you’ll receive an email invite to join (webinar-style). Transparency is hugely important to us and giving our clients a platform to make sure your points are heard is one way we feel we can make good on this commitment.
